Broadcasting from the Boardroom with live streaming

Video streaming products are increasingly being used by universities to capture and distribute lectures and seminars via webcast or TV, however, they are proving extremely valuable in a corporate context too. Here are some of the ways large organisations are using the technology:

PR - executive announcements, new product launches, factory tours can all be captured and streamed live to the web. This can be seen by existing customers, staff, shareholders and invited media. Alternatively, companies can make the video publicly available for all to see. This is particularly good in a crisis situation because it allows a live personal statement to be widely distributed. Of course, this can be done via email but video is more compelling especially if an organisation needs to show its human side.

Video conferencing - if you currently have VC, it is possible to extend its reach to broadcast sessions over the web enabling guests to view or play back the session.

Staff training, induction and conferences - this is great if you have widely dispersed staff members. A great deal of money can be saved on travel and accommodation if staff can access sessions via video online.

Surveillance and monitoring - organisations like the military use video streaming technology to gain real time IP video from peace or combat zones. The police and other security organisations also use this.

Digital signage- rather than static welcome messages and PowerPoint slides, why not make your own video with product demonstrations, customer endorsements, production line tours? This is great in a business to business and retail environment. Why not play back a recent awards event?

Innovations' recent project at Cambridge University involved some complex programming to integrate the video streaming technology with the boardroom control system in order to automate the process and make it user friendly.
